Identify the building network node
Provide the active equipment reference used at the building entry or equipment location. List any switches, access equipment and related devices included in the backup request. Ask the network operator where its responsibility ends and the building owner's responsibility begins. If equipment is shared across services, identify the loads belonging to this purchase. A building diagram with the powered devices marked gives the battery discussion a clearer scope than an address alone.
Define the supported services
Ask the service owner which network functions must continue during a building power interruption. Describe whether other equipment beyond the node also needs power for those services to remain available. Record the reserve objective as an input for technical review. If the objective differs by service or user group, state those differences. Keep promises about customer service availability separate from the battery purchase; the network team needs to assess the complete service path.
Provide the local power equipment details
Give the charger or power supply model and show how it connects to the active node. Include the battery connection documentation and the equipment's required operating range. Ask the power reviewer which settings must be confirmed for the proposed battery. If the building uses an existing shared power arrangement, explain the relevant interfaces. Request a configuration answer from the responsible parties rather than assuming that every building access installation has the same electrical requirements.
Describe shared building constraints
State where the battery will sit and who controls access to that space. Provide available dimensions, door openings and cable route information. Ask the building manager what restrictions apply to delivery, maintenance visits and equipment replacement. Request the proposed battery drawing and handling information for the installation reviewer. If the equipment room is occupied by other services, identify the boundaries the installer must respect instead of treating the whole room as available battery space.
Agree on alarm ownership
Ask who receives information when incoming power fails or when a site visit is needed. Identify the monitoring equipment, connection method and responsible operations team. Where the building manager and network operator have different responsibilities, record the handoff between them. Ask the commissioning party how the agreed information path will be checked. Keep that review tied to the proposed installation; the presence of a battery does not define who will respond to a building network alarm.
Create a building-level purchase schedule
For a rollout, give each building its own equipment and location entry. Flag differences in access, available battery space and active equipment. Ask the technical reviewer which entries may share a configuration and which require separate review. Request quotations against that schedule with accessories and delivery arrangements identified. Preserve the building exceptions with the approved order so installers can identify where the arrangement differs from the common network brief.
Fttb Backup Power Requirements: documents to discuss
| Ask about | Request with your inquiry |
|---|---|
| Why does the building boundary matter? | The network operator and building owner may control different equipment and spaces. Ask them to identify who supplies power, who authorizes installation work and who maintains the battery location. Put those responsibilities in the project brief so a battery offer can be reviewed against the actual arrangement. |
| Does backup at the building entry cover every user device? | Ask the network designer to define the complete powered service path and identify the equipment included in your request. Describe the reserve objective for that boundary. Avoid treating the local battery purchase as a statement about equipment elsewhere in the building or network. |
| What should a multisite buyer record? | Keep the building identifier, active equipment, charger reference and usable mounting space for each location. Add access restrictions and responsible contacts by role. Ask for approved common configurations and documented exceptions before turning the rollout schedule into a combined quantity request. |
